Therapy

Therapy is a confidential, supportive space to work through distress, life challenges, and the personal impact of past or present experiences. I provide structured, compassionate therapy that is practical, paced, and tailored to your individual context.

I originally trained as a Registered Nurse before completing further study and specialist training in mental health and psychotherapy. This background informs a holistic, whole-person approach, where emotional, psychological, physical, cultural, and social factors are all considered as part of your care — not just symptoms in isolation.

Therapy is collaborative. We work together to understand what is happening for you, what has shaped your experiences, and what feels supportive and achievable right now. Sessions are guided by your goals, values, and readiness, and adapt over time as your needs change.

I work with adults from a wide range of backgrounds, including migrants and former refugees, and people navigating adjustment, loss, identity shifts, and the long-term effects of displacement or resettlement.

Grief Therapy

When Therapy May Be Helpful

Therapy may be helpful if you are experiencing:

  • Ongoing stress, anxiety, or low mood

  • Trauma responses related to past experiences

  • Adjustment challenges following migration or resettlement

  • Grief, loss, or separation from family, culture, or home

  • Identity or belonging concerns

  • Overwhelm, emotional exhaustion, or feeling stuck

Therapy is adapted to your pace, values, and circumstances.

Anxiety Therapy

Therapeutic Approaches

I am trained in the following evidence-based therapies and integrate them as appropriate:

Therapy for refugees

Narrative Therapy

Narrative therapy helps separate the person from the problem and supports the development of alternative, more empowering stories about lived experience.

Solution-Focused Therapy

This approach builds on strengths and resources, supporting change through clear goals and achievable steps.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing)

EMDR is a trauma-focused therapy that supports the brain to process distressing memories so they carry less emotional intensity over time.

Grief, loss Therapy

Areas of Specialisation

Youth Mental Health

I work with young people navigating anxiety, low mood, emotional regulation, identity development, and family or school-related stress. Therapy is developmentally appropriate, supportive, and focused on building emotional understanding, coping skills, and a sense of safety and confidence.

Anxiety & Depression

I support individuals experiencing anxiety and depression, including ongoing worry, panic, rumination, low mood, emotional numbness, or burnout. Therapy focuses on understanding patterns, reducing symptom intensity, and developing practical strategies to support day-to-day functioning and emotional wellbeing.

Grief & Loss

I support people experiencing grief and loss, including bereavement, separation from family or culture, disrupted life plans, and the quieter, less recognised losses that can accompany migration and major life transitions.

Trauma Therapy

Trauma therapy is delivered at a careful, stabilising pace and may integrate EMDR to support the processing of distressing memories, alongside DBT-informed skills to strengthen emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. Safety, consent, and readiness are prioritised throughout.

Perinatal Mental Health

I work with individuals during pregnancy and the postnatal period who may be experiencing anxiety, depression, emotional overwhelm, identity changes, or birth-related distress. Support is gentle, validating, and responsive to the complexities of this transition.
